History of
the Summer Fair
Buckland Monachorum's Summer
Fair is traditionally held on the second Saturday in June and for many
years was known as the June Fair although the event seems to have developed
from an older Village event known as the May Revels. At one time the Fair
was held in the grounds of Pound House but it then moved to the grounds
of the village primary school. Following the success of the Big Linch
in 2012, (which was held in the main street of the Village) it was decided
to move the Fair into the Village for 2013 and to rename it the 'Summer
Fair'. The profits from the day are shared by the organisations that help
put on the Fair.
